Here below my replies: 

My question is that if this solution to obesity has been around for many years, why isn't it advertised or the word let out about it? 

Many reasons. I enumerate:

• Dr. ATW Simeons (the program's author), originally described the method as by 1954 . 
  He was working at an Hospital outside the current Academic circles, therefore, many people supposed "he was not to be trusted", despite the fact he was one of the most impressive innovators in Medicine, having published many reports on diseases ranging from gastritis to lepra. 
  
  
• He published the article as "Letters to the editor" in The Lancet (a brief communication). For some bigshots in Medicine, that was a very small and unconclusive report. 
  
  
• Ask your treating MD about hCG+diet: He/she will warn you that the method is dangerous, and hCG can bring hisrsutism, cancer or whatsoever. 
  
  Now, hCG is produced in ENORMOUS AMOUNTS DURING PREGNANCY, and only a tiny dose is applied during hCG+diet. Have you ever seen a pregnant women looking like a gorilla?. Have you ever seen ANY pregnant woman whose chances to get cancer were increased ?. 
  
  Sometimes I ask myself if those biases arise from lack of information, or they are intentionally  biased. Don't know. 
  
  
• There are many interests in the "Fat Industry". See: 
  
  "The "Fat Chance" special missed the whole point that HCG therapy cured obesity 40 years ago. Dr. A.T.W. Simeons of Rome found the permanent cure for obesity in the early 1960's and the American diet industry suppressed it for 40 years. 
  
  Why? The American diet industry has grown in the last 40 years from $2 billion/year to over $20 billion/year. 
  
  That industry would collapse if the fact were widely known that obesity is a permanently curable symptom of a hypothalamus dysfunction. 
  
  What is unconscionable is the almost infinite amount of pain and distress and degradation that have been endured by almost three generations of fat Americans, let alone those fat people in the rest of the world, because of the greed of the diet industry. I have used the Simeons weight reduction program. I personally guarantee that it works. Nicholas Smith-La Grande, OR" 
  
  
• Yes, there is and FDA regulation issued in 1974 regarding hCG+diet, stating: 
  
  "Hcg has no known effect on fat mobilization, appetite or sense of hunger, or body fat distribution. Hcg has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or "normal" distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets." 
  
  You see, it seems nobody cares about personal experiences from those already succesfully treated patients.
  
  
• Unfortunately we live in a Century where greed supersedes common sense and desire for peoples' welfare does not pays out. For this sin, we will be blamed by our obese children, obese grandchildren, obese grand grandchildren and so forth.
